Vice President Xu Li of the Promotion Association leads a New Zealand construction investment delegation to China

From May 11 to 19, 2025, Mr. Xu Li, Vice President of the New Zealand-China Science and Technology Economic Promotion Association and President of the New Zealand Chinese Construction Industry Association (NZCBIA), led the "2025 New Zealand Construction Investment Delegation" to visit the two cities of Zhengzhou and Chengdu, and conducted a fruitful nine-day trip to China.
The delegation members came from key areas of the New Zealand government, construction, investment and building materials supply chain. They carried out a series of activities around industry research, procurement matching, investment negotiations and project cooperation, aiming to conduct an in-depth study of the development achievements of China's construction industry and promote pragmatic cooperation in green buildings, renewable energy, infrastructure construction and other aspects.
By promoting the New Zealand government's current reform measures in infrastructure and construction, we will explore how to strengthen cooperation between New Zealand and relevant Chinese companies and give full play to the advantages of Chinese companies in infrastructure and construction.
Zhengzhou Station
At the "China (Zhengzhou)-New Zealand Construction Industry Investment Matchmaking Conference" held in Zhengzhou High-tech Zone, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on each other's needs, industrial advantages and cooperation opportunities. At the same time, at the industrial matching conference jointly hosted by the Henan Engineering Survey and Design Industry Association and NZCBIA, the delegation conducted extensive discussions with local companies on cutting-edge fields such as green buildings, low-carbon technologies and clean energy design through a multi-dimensional model of "policy dialogue + technology sharing + industrial matching".

In addition to the enterprise inspection, the delegation also visited the "Smart City Exhibition Hall", "Network Security Technology Museum" and "Computing Industry Park" in Zhengzhou High-tech Zone, and visited the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone Management Committee, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhengzhou Branch, Municipal Federation of Overseas Chinese and Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and other government departments and organizations. During the period, the delegation also accepted an exclusive interview with Henan Daily.
Chengdu Station
The delegation visited Sichuan Road and Bridge Construction Group, which has many world-class bridge-building records, in Chengdu, and learned about the glorious development history and strong infrastructure strength of Sichuan Road and Bridge. The delegation discussed the possibility and feasibility of cooperation with the leaders and experts of Sichuan Road and Bridge. The leaders of Sichuan Road and Bridge who participated in the discussion included: Yang Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Chairman and General Manager; Zhang Hangchuan, Party Committee Member, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Road and Bridge Group; He Teng, Deputy General Manager of Road and Bridge Group; and Lu Wei, Chief Engineer.

The delegation also visited the Chengdu Tianfu New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, China Construction Binhu Design Headquarters, Tianfu International Conference Center, Chengdu Zhongjiancai Optoelectronic Materials Co., Ltd., Sichuan Metallurgical Control Group, and visited the Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Sichuan Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Chengdu Tianfu New Area Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. President Xu Li thanked Liang Wei, Vice Chairman of the Chengdu CPPCC, Wang Qi, Vice Chairman of the Chengdu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and President of the Tianfu New Area Chamber of Commerce, Xue Shuihe, Vice Chairman of the Chengdu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and President of the Sichuan Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as Chengdu Tianfu New Area and Chengdu Wuliangye Club for their warm reception.

Using architecture as a bridge to promote New Zealand-China scientific and economic cooperation
This visit is not only a comprehensive research trip on China's construction and industrial environment, but also a cross-cultural, cross-industry and cross-regional exchange event. Through industry conferences, enterprise matchmaking meetings, enterprise inspections and city visits, the delegation has comprehensively improved its understanding of the current situation, development trends, production capacity and capabilities of the Chinese construction market, opening a new window for New Zealand companies to expand cooperation with Chinese companies.
