In May 2017, President Gao was awarded the "Special Recognition Award for Contribution to New Zealand–China Relations" by the New Zealand China Trade Association (NZCTA).

The New Zealand China Association for Promotion of Economy and Science (the Association) has now existed for 20 years. These two decades have been marked by trials and challenges, responsibility and mission, pride and honour. On the occasion of the Association’s 20th anniversary in New Zealand, I would like to sincerely thank the leaders and partners at all levels who have shown great support for the Association over the years.

Economic globalisation and the trend of world economic integration will present limitless opportunities for economic development and enterprise growth. New Zealand is a pioneer among developed nations in fostering relations with China.

The Association is a product of economic growth in conjunction with scientific and technological advancement. We are committed to helping enterprises build innovation hubs that maximise the value of their efforts. With science and technology innovation as a guiding principle, and with economic prosperity and win-win cooperation as our goals, the Association will leverage its collective strengths, safeguard the interests of its members, stimulate social progress and continuously pursue innovation.
