Mr. Shaolin Huang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Fuzhou University. After graduation, he worked at Fujian Daily Press Group. In 1991, he moved to New Zealand to pursue further studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Auckland, and later a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Auckland University of Technology.
Mr. Huang has held various leadership and advisory roles across multiple sectors. He served as a financial advisor at AXA New Zealand and Guowei Insurance (Hong Kong), and went on to found New Oriental English College in New Zealand. He also served as Principal of Jasper Polytechnic Institute in New Zealand. He was Vice President and China Regional General Manager at Alpha Group International, as well as Vice President of its Thailand branch. He currently works as a Real Estate Sales and Investment Advisor at Barfoot & Thompson in New Zealand.
Mr. Huang has been a key leader in the New Zealand Chinese and Fujianese communities for over two decades. In 1995, alongside fellow Fujianese immigrants, he co-founded the Fujian Association of New Zealand. In 2002, he helped establish the Fujian Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand; in 2004, the Fuzhou University Alumni Association of New Zealand; in 2015, he was elected Deputy Secretary-General of the United Chinese Association of New Zealand; and in 2017, he founded the Fuzhou Association of New Zealand, serving as its inaugural president. In 2021, he and other alumni from Fujian universities co-founded the Federation of Fujian University Alumni Associations in New Zealand.
Over the years, Mr. Huang has played a key role in organizing delegations of Fujian business and community leaders to attend global gatherings such as the World Fujian Community Conference in Sydney and Xiamen. He has led fundraising campaigns in New Zealand for disaster relief, including for victims of Typhoon Saomai in Fujian and for earthquake victims in Wenchuan (China) and Christchurch (New Zealand). He has also organized numerous support initiatives for Fujianese families in need in New Zealand and for underprivileged returnee families in China through donations to the Fujian Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Huang has played an instrumental role in coordinating official delegations from Fujian Province, Fuzhou, and Xiamen to New Zealand, and in organizing cultural and community events to strengthen ties among the Fujianese diaspora in Auckland and beyond.
