Mr. Dingyi Xu graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1982 with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and subsequently worked at Shanghai Second Medical University (now the School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University). In 1987, he earned a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Auckland, Faculty of Engineering. He then held key positions at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland, and at New Zealand’s first publicly listed biotechnology research company, where he served as Director of the Information and Bioinformatics Departments.
Between 2001 and 2002, he was invited to work in the United States as Director of the Bioinformatics Division at a neurogenetics research firm in Maryland.
At the end of 2008, Mr. Xu founded DX Consulting, a company dedicated to promoting cooperation and exchange in education and science between New Zealand and China. Over the past decade, the company has played a foundational role in facilitating successful collaborations for institutions such as the Royal Society of Environmental Sciences, New Zealand, and the University of Otago.
Under Mr. Xu’s strategic leadership, DX Consulting introduced STRmix—the world-leading forensic DNA analysis software developed by the Royal Society of Environmental Sciences—to China’s Ministry of Public Security Evidence Identification Center and the Technical Center of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department.
DX Consulting also helped establish a high-level cooperation framework between the Royal Society of Environmental Sciences and the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. In 2017, during Premier Li Keqiang’s official visit to New Zealand, the two sides announced their partnership and signed a cooperation agreement at the Chinese Embassy in Wellington.
In the field of education, the company initiated and supported the establishment of the Otago–SJTU DBA Program, New Zealand’s first Doctor of Business Administration program in collaboration with a Chinese university. The program has since trained over 100 senior executives and business leaders.
