On the morning of June 16, taking advantage of the important opportunity of the successful friendly visit of Premier Li Qiang to New Zealand, the New Zealand-China Science and Technology Economic Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Promotion Association") held its first plenary meeting after the reorganization in Auckland.




The meeting reviewed the development history of the Promotion Association since its establishment, and discussed how to further enhance the participation of scientific and technological professionals and successful business people in the context of New Zealand and China enhancing bilateral relations, increasing economic and trade exchanges, and strengthening cooperation and exchanges, promote extensive and in-depth cooperation between New Zealand and China in the fields of science, technology and economy, give full play to the expertise of the Promotion Association in related fields, continue to grow and develop in the future, and make greater contributions to New Zealand-China relations.



President Professor Gao Yihuai and Executive President Mr. Gao Wei attended and spoke. Executive Vice President Xu Dingyi presided over the meeting. Secretary-General and Vice President Liao Xiaoxue, Vice President Huang Shaolin and Dr. Lu Guoliang, head of the New Zealand Chinese Scientists Association, spoke in turn. Vice President Mao Zhenzhen, Vice President Xu Li, President of the New Zealand Alumni Association of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Professor Cao Peng, Chairman of the New Zealand Chinese Masters and Doctors Association Dr. Pan Xingzheng and some members of the Promotion Association in Auckland attended the meeting.




President Professor Gao Yihuai fondly recalled his journey of more than 30 years of scientific research in New Zealand, his unswerving dedication to innovation in the fields of medicine and health, and his active commitment to promoting the transformation of research results, scientific research exchanges and economic and trade development, and he has not changed his original intention to this day. Professor Gao introduced to new and old members the situation of his founding of the Promotion Association in 1999 with the joint support of the leaders of New Zealand and China, and the achievements he made since returning to China to start a scientific and technological business and founding Anfa International in 2006, especially the three mature platforms he has built in China: scientific research, production bases and markets. Professor Gao emphasized that the Promotion Association is a bridge for building and connecting bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and introduced the policies and plans of the Chinese government to attract talents and investment, and expressed that he will spare no effort to support the introduction of good projects back to China and achieve win-win results.




Executive President Gao Wei pointed out that the mission of the Association is to promote the scientific and technological and economic and trade relations between New Zealand and China by promoting exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation. President Gao emphasized the great help of scientific and technological innovation to economic development, the economic function of science and technology in enabling enterprise development, and the experience and conditions created by the Association for the win-win cooperation in the scientific and technological and economic exchanges between New Zealand and China. President Gao specifically mentioned that on the evening of June 14, at the welcome banquet hosted by New Zealand Prime Minister Laxon for Premier Li Qiang, Professor Gao Yihuai, President Gao Wei, Vice President Xu Li and Vice President Mao Zhenzhen from the Association were invited to attend as outstanding representatives from all walks of life in New Zealand, which fully reflects the important influence that the Association and its leaders have achieved in New Zealand.





Secretary-General Liao Xiaoxue introduced the functions of the secretariat and the members of the association after the reorganization. She pointed out that nearly half of the members have master's and doctoral degrees, with high academic qualifications and professional expertise, and an orderly age structure, highlighting the characteristics of team members' expertise, rich experience and cross-generational communication. Under the leadership of the presidents, the association has done a lot of positive work in the past six months and achieved remarkable results.



As the senior founding vice president of the association, Vice President Huang Shaolin further introduced Professor Gao Yihuai's achievements in academic, scientific research and economic and trade fields to the new members, and reviewed the Anfa International Group founded by Professor Gao in New Zealand in 1998, which has become a leader in New Zealand's biotechnology companies and a model for transforming R&D results from laboratories to industrial production. More than 300 stores in China sell Anfa's health products and medicines, reflecting Professor Gao's vision of making scientific and technological achievements benefit the public.



Vice President Xu Dingyi made a wonderful summary in his speech, pointing out that New Zealand has unique advantages in the field of scientific and technological innovation. He encouraged everyone to make full use of the platform and resources of the Promotion Association, actively explore more innovative scientific and technological projects in New Zealand, strengthen interaction and communication, and promote substantive exchanges and cooperation between New Zealand and China in the fields of science, technology and economy. He also introduced and looked forward to the future work ideas and development ideas of the Promotion Association.




Dr. Lu Guoliang from the New Zealand Chinese Scientists Association is an old friend of the Association, and the two associations have a long-term close cooperative relationship. In his speech, he warmly praised Anfa Bio as a model of Chinese scientists successfully transforming scientific research results into economic entities. He emphasized that the value of science and technology is not limited to published papers, but also lies in the benefit of mankind with practical technologies and products.



Afterwards, new and old members attending the meeting spoke to communicate and share, and put forward suggestions to promote the development of the association and exchanges between Singapore and China. The atmosphere at the meeting was warm and harmonious.
