As spring comes and flowers bloom in the southern hemisphere, with the coordination and arrangement of the New Zealand Science and Technology Economic Promotion Association and other organizations, Professor Dong Jingcheng, Dean of the Institute of Chinese and Western Medicine of Fudan University, and his delegation came from afar and had a fruitful visit and exchange with two of the most famous universities in New Zealand.

At the University of Otago, Professor Dong and his delegation were warmly welcomed and received by the Vice President of the University and the Dean and Vice Dean of the Medical School. Vice President Professor Gibbons gave a detailed introduction to the University of Otago Medical School, which has a long history and is ranked among the top in the world. Ms. Justine Camp, the head of Maori medicine, focused on the special role of Maori medicine in modern medicine. She clearly expressed her hope to maintain communication and seek cooperation with Professor Dong's Fudan University team in the field of combining traditional medicine with modern medicine. Professor Dong introduced the history of Fudan University Medical School and the rapid development it has achieved since the reform and opening up to friends from the University of Otago, and introduced the scientific research direction and fruitful results of the Institute of Cooperation between Chinese and Western Medicine.

Afterwards, Professor Dong had a more in-depth exchange with Professor Arlene McDowell, the head of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Science of the School of Medicine. Professor McDowell specifically introduced the Bachelor and Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Science that started three years ago and welcomed more overseas students to sign up for the study.

Ms. Kellie, the director of the university's international department, learned that Professor Dong Jingcheng was a member of the Shanghai CPPCC and a librarian of the Shanghai Academy of Literature and History. She specially arranged for Professor Dong and his party to visit the university's cultural and historical collections. At the Hocken Gallery, Professor Dong and his party saw many unique and precious collections with great interest.

On September 13, at the invitation of Dr. Zhou Lifeng, Chief Advisor for Asia-Pacific and International Affairs of the New Zealand Health Board, Professor Dong Jingcheng attended the 3rd New Zealand Annual Health Forum jointly organized by the University of Auckland Medical School and the New Zealand Health Board as the keynote speaker. Professor Dong and his team's trip to Australia and New Zealand was short, but I believe the seeds they planted will flourish and grow.
